History
Prior to 1991, entire A & N Islands was under the control of a single District Police, Port Blair. At that time, Shri. Ajay Kashyap, IPS was appointed as the first Superintendent of Police of Andaman District and in the year 2006, South Andaman District was formed alongwith the other two districts and the District was headed by Shri. Jaspal Singh, IPS. Till date 13 SPs were served as Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. This district is the one of the most populated and crime rated area with numerous count of crimes complied to assess the effectiveness of a crime control policy, and the impact of the policy on the risk of crime victimization. South Andaman Police highly integrated to provide quality, timeliness and excellence service to the society.
